Lando Norris ended up with a facial injury after celebrations with fans got a bit out of hand following the British Grand Prix.

Lando Norris appeared to suffer an injury caused by a photographer after winning the Formula One British Grand Prix for the first time on Sunday.

Norris pipped McLaren teammate Oscar Piastri, hit with a 10-second penalty for misjudging a situation involving the safety car, to take the win at Silverstone for the first time in his career and close the gap at the top of the driver standings.

The 25-year-old was full of euphoria as he celebrated with his team and family but spirits were damaged later on after a shock incident.

Norris appeared to be going over to greet the fans who had cheered him on loudly to help record a historic F1 victory when a photographer who had scaled the fence fell onto him.

In footage which emerged online, the photographer, wearing a red cap, inadvertently struck the Brit.

Norris was seen in immediate discomfort as he held his face and was escorted away by his team in an unfortunate end to what was one of the best days of his life and career.

The incident meant Norris did not get to hoist the trophy aloft and celebrate with the fans, who were denied the special moment.

The extent of his injury has not yet been revealed.

Lando Norris forced to apologise after historic F1 win.

As Lando Norris crossed the finish line, emotions ran high during a heartfelt radio exchange with his team. He called the victory on home turf a “dream” and “beautiful.”

Still riding an adrenaline rush, Norris accidentally dropped an f-bomb during a post-race interview with 2009 world champion Jenson Button. Both quickly apologized for the slip.

“It’s just beautiful,” Norris told Sky Sports. “It’s everything I’ve dreamed of, everything I’ve worked for. Besides winning the championship, this is the peak. It was an incredible, stressful race.”

He added, “Your mind just goes blank—everything you planned to say or do just vanishes. All I kept telling myself was: don’t mess this up. In those final laps, I couldn’t help but look out at the crowd. This might not happen again. What an incredible moment.”

But Norris wasn’t the only one making headlines at Silverstone. Nico Hulkenberg claimed his first-ever Formula 1 podium after 239 races and 15 years in the sport. He snatched third place in tricky wet conditions, edging out Lewis Hamilton. Overcome with emotion, Hulkenberg celebrated with his team over the radio—then forgot to bring his helmet to the cooldown room in the excitement.

Meanwhile, reigning champion Max Verstappen salvaged fifth place after a tough and chaotic race.
