PGA Tour star who’s banked £7m confirms LIV Golf decision after rumours..

PGA Tour star Min Woo Lee has confirmed that he has no plans to join LIV Golf despite ongoing speculation. The talented Australian has been heavily linked with making the switch to the Saudi-funded breakaway league.

LIV Golf is currently in its off-season, which is traditionally the time when the league looks to recruit new players for the following campaign. The 2026 season will get underway in March, which could see a host of new faces.

Lee has been linked with being signed up by LIV ahead of the 2026 season. However, the 27-year-old has poured cold water on such speculation, insisting that he will be remaining on the PGA Tour for the foreseeable future.

“There’s been a lot of rumours. I’m not going and am just going to play on the PGA Tour,” said Lee in an interview with AAP.

“So I’m happy with where I’m at and, yeah, I’m looking forward to next year.”

Lee joined the PGA Tour back in 2024 and won his first event on the tour back in March at the Houston Open before finishing 49th at the Masters. However, Lee missed the cut at the US Open, PGA Championship and the Open in the months that followed.

Since joining the PGA Tour last year, Lee has racked up around $9million (£6.9million) and his latest update confirms that he will continue to play on the tour next year.

Despite winning his first event of his career on the PGA Tour earlier this year, Lee went on to admit where he needs to improve ahead of next year, with the major championships already in mind.

“It was great to have the win but it’s tough because there’s not much time to actually regroup and think about it,” said Lee.

“You’re on a high for a while, and before I knew it, two weeks later it was the Masters—it all felt like it went by really fast.

Then the Signature events started coming up. The win was incredible, but the rest of the season was fairly average, which is something I knew I needed to improve on.”

Lee’s comments come shortly after LIV Golf revealed major updates for the upcoming season. The Saudi Arabia-backed league, funded by the Public Investment Fund (PIF), has announced it will move from 54-hole to 72-hole tournaments starting next season.

Although the number ‘54’ is part of LIV Golf’s name (written in Roman numerals), the change will officially take effect in 2026—aligning the tour’s format with that of the PGA Tour and the DP World Tour.

Top players like Rory McIlroy, Jon Rahm, Bryson DeChambeau, and Dustin Johnson have all recently shared their thoughts on LIV Golf’s decision.
