Kristoffer Reitan earned $3.6 million for his first PGA Tour win. 😮‍💨

Truist Championship delivered one of the most dramatic finishes of the PGA Tour season as Kristoffer Reitan captured his maiden PGA Tour title at Quail Hollow after holding off a crowded leaderboard that included Alex Fitzpatrick, Rickie Fowler, and Nicolai Højgaard. Reitan closed with a composed final-round 69 to finish at 15-under-par and secure the biggest victory of his career, earning the winner’s share of the tournament’s massive $20 million purse.

The victory marked another major milestone in Reitan’s remarkable rise through professional golf. Just a few years ago, the Norwegian was fighting to keep status on the DP World Tour feeder circuit, but his recent surge has transformed him into one of Europe’s most exciting players. His win at Quail Hollow added a PGA Tour signature event title to an already impressive stretch that included victories on the DP World Tour.

For Alex Fitzpatrick, the week ended in heartbreak despite another breakout performance. The Englishman entered Sunday with the outright lead and looked poised to claim his first individual PGA Tour title after an outstanding third-round 64. However, an early stumble and a costly double bogey late in the final round derailed his chances, leaving him tied for fourth place at 12-under.

Even after the disappointment, Fitzpatrick had nothing but praise for Reitan’s performance. According to reports following the final round, Fitzpatrick acknowledged how impressive Reitan was under pressure and admitted the Norwegian deserved the victory after producing clutch birdies during the closing stretch. Fitzpatrick also reflected positively on his own week, saying he remained proud of the way he battled despite the painful collapse on Sunday.

Reitan’s triumph also carried major financial rewards. The Norwegian collected the $3.6 million winner’s cheque, while the rest of the field shared in one of the richest purses on the PGA Tour calendar. With the Truist Championship being a signature event, the payouts were enormous across the board, further highlighting the growing stakes in elite PGA Tour competition.

The result continues what has already become a memorable 2026 season for the Fitzpatrick family. Alex recently earned PGA Tour status after winning the Zurich Classic alongside his brother Matt Fitzpatrick, while Matt himself has enjoyed one of the hottest stretches of his career with multiple victories this season. Despite missing out at Quail Hollow, Alex’s performance confirmed that he is quickly becoming a serious contender on the PGA Tour stage.
