Max Verstappen shows true colours with comments on US Grand Prix boo boys.

Max Verstappen has insisted that he is only focused on winning races and not making fans happy after he was loudly booed on the podium at the United States Grand Prix.

Lewis Hamilton and Lando Norris put a lot of pressure on the Dutchman, but he came back from sixth on the grid to win the 50th race of his career.

Loud jeers from the thousands of spectators during the celebration of Verstappen’s victory were somewhat detracting after the race. The Dutch national anthem was followed by more audible booing, with many supporters using the occasion to yell out their support for Sergio Perez.

After celebrating his victory, Verstappen was asked about the cold reception he had received. He didn’t seem too bothered, responding, “In the end, I’m the one who goes home with the trophy, fine by me.”

The Red Bull man was then asked if he will be frustrated if he is booed again at this weekend’s Mexican Grand Prix but insisted that he does not care as long as he keeps winning. He simply said: “Then I’ll still go home with the trophy!”

Verstappen smiled and whooped in joy as he raised his trophy in the air, completely unfazed by the jeering fans. He performed admirably on the track to win the Grand Prix at the Circuit of the Americas, despite having to deal with a brake problem late in the race.

Many Mexican supporters of Perez were present, which might have contributed to the post-race jeers directed at Verstappen. After failing to keep up with his teammate in the Drivers’ Championship standings in recent months, Perez has come under harsh criticism from individuals like Red Bull advisor Helmut Marko.

Red Bull boss Christian Horner later admitted that he is expecting more boos for Verstappen in Mexico City this weekend, telling Sky Sports F1: “I don’t think Max is going to get the warmest reception in Mexico but that’s water off a duck’s back. One year you are the villain, the next year you are the hero.”

The Dutch national anthem was being chanted when Perez’s name was being criticized by others, and Marko added, “We are in contact with a lot of Mexicans. There are always some, let’s say enthusiastic people, who don’t uphold the fair sporting standard, even though the majority are very friendly and fair.
