Perez reveals Verstappen’s key F1 lessons
Sergio Perez has praised teammate Max Verstappen, calling him a “giant worker”, saying he learned consistency from him.
Red Bull drivers had a good season overall, with Verstappen coming through all year and taking first place in the drivers’ championship.
Perez, meanwhile, looked to consolidate his second place position and achieve his team’s first double.
The Mexican driver has started the season well with two consecutive wins, and at one point it looked like he could become a real rival to Verstappen.
However, he has recently struggled to keep up with his more dominant teammate.
Despite Pérez’s recent struggles, he is keen to give the Dutchman credit for his current position.
When asked by L’Equipe what makes Verstappen so strong, Perez replied: “First of all, he is very talented.
“He lives for and through F1.
It is his passion and it makes his determination even stronger.
“Second, he understands a lot of things: why he is successful and why sometimes it fails. That makes it special.
And finally, I will say that he is a great worker.
“Perez also praised Verstappen’s consistency and revealed what he learned driving alongside the Dutchman.
“I would say his ability to give his all at once” , says the Mexican.
“As soon as he does a trick, he’s at his best.
“He doesn’t need to warm up. He was 100% right from the start, without the slightest mistake.
“The pressure remains intense on Perez, who is currently only 20 points ahead of his rival in the drivers’ championship, Lewis Hamilton. The Mexican driver will have to do well to top F1 in South America at the Brazilian Grand Prix.
