CBS makes major change after Amanda Balionis’ controversial interview with Rickie Fowler.
The 38-year-old has issued a defiant message to the trolls.
CBS have made a bold decision regarding Amanda Balionis following her recent interview with Ricky Fowler.
Several golf fans took exception to her post-round chat with the American during this week’s Charles Schwab Challenge.
Balionis, who was rumored to be in a romantic relationship with Rory McIlroy, was also targeted by trolls after her PGA Championship interview with Bryson DeChambeau.
Several flooded the comments sections of clips from the interview with disrespectful messages.
And in light of the hateful comments and direct messages she’s received on Instagram, CBS have opted NOT to post clips of her interview with Fowler to their socials.
Balionis recently shared snippets of the public criticism she’s faced on her Instagram story.
One of the messages read: “CBS should have fired Amanda some time ago.
“She is a highly unprofessional journalist. Her job is to be a journalist NOT to be a giggling, flirtatious high school girl.”
Another in response to CBS announcing Balionis as part of their broadcast team read: “Balionis gotta go. She is horrendous.”
Ballionis is refusing to let her detractors win, insisting she’ll stay true to herself.
She wrote on her story: “When we talk about being you instead of trying to be what you think others perceive as ‘perfect’ or ‘good enough’.
“Trying to please everyone is exhausting and ultimately impossible.
Someone will always think you’re ‘too this’ or ‘too that.’
It’s much simpler—and healthier—to stay true to yourself and learn which feedback genuinely matters (hint: it’s not from random trolls).
Since everyone wants different things, constantly adapting will only leave you confused and disconnected from who you really are.
Anyway, that’s my unsolicited Ted Talk. Thanks for listening!”
