PGA TOUR WINNER SLAMS THE LOOK OF THE LEADERBOARD AT MEXICO OPEN

“Who the hell are they?” PGA Tour winner believes the circuit reached a “new low” at the Mexico Open.

One-time PGA Tour winner Mark Lye has labelled the look of the leaderboard at the Mexico Open as a “new low” for the circuit.

PGA Tour rookies Jake Knapp and Sami Valimaki battled out the Mexico Open at Vidanta with Knapp pulling clear on the back nine to win by two.

Knapp scooped the first prize of $1.45m and secured his playing privileges on the PGA Tour for the next couple of seasons on top of book his place in all the remaining Signature Events on the 2024 season.

Stephan Jaeger, Justin Lower and CT Pan finished in a tie for third five strokes off the pace.

Tony Finau, the favorite to win the tournament, was the highest-ranked player at World No.24 in the competition.

However, the defending champion ended up finishing in T13th place.

However, some critics believed that the leaderboard did not have the excitement of big-name celebrities.

Lye, the champion of the 1983 Bank of Boston Classic on the PGA Tour, believes that it was one of the most unattractive leaderboards seen in the circuit for a while.    In the broadcasting of the Mexico Open’s final round, Lye posted on Twitter:    “I am unsure how the PGA Tour can justify the current leaderboard in Mexico.

They are talented players, but unfamiliar to many.

This situation is disappointing.”
Lye joined SiriusXM as an analyst in 2015.

In 2022, he was terminated from his job after making disparaging remarks about women’s sports.

What did you make of the Mexico Open leaderboard? Did you enjoy the action or was it something of a turn-off for you?
