Korn Ferry Tour pro Zack Fischer has taken to X to outline his ‘shock’ at being denied a sponsor exemption into the Argentina Open.
Zack Fischer says he is in ‘shock’ after he was denied a sponsor exemption into the Korn Ferry Tour’s Argentina Open – despite being the tournament’s defending champion.
Fischer expressed his deep disappointment about not being able to attend the event at Olivos Golf Club in Buenos Aires next week. In 2022, the golfer won the first prize of $31,500 at the tournament.
The event scheduled for 2023 was canceled and rescheduled.
Fischer believed he deserved an invitation to the tournament this year, but the golfer stated that the organizers had different intentions for the exemptions.
His absence from the field is mainly due to the fact that he forfeited his full playing privileges on the Korn Ferry Tour in the previous season.
He expressed deep disappointment in not being able to participate in the Argentina Open on the Korn Ferry Tour to defend his title next week.” I have presented my argument, but they have different ideas about the exemptions.
With that being said, 2024 will still be the most successful year for me. Fischer expressed his belief that 2024 will be significant for him in terms of both his career and personal life. The golfer and his wife are anticipating the arrival of another child, and he is confident that he will find success on the PGA Tour Americas.
According to reports, Fischer has never been granted a sponsor exemption to participate in any competition during his 13-year career.
Several golf enthusiasts seemed to show support for Fisher. One individual stated that PGA policy should dictate that the previous year’s champion be given the chance to defend their title at all levels of competition, regardless of their current playing status.
Fisher responded by saying: “Thank you, I am also surprised. I hope that by raising awareness about this, we can prevent from happening to others in the future.”
Fischer’s win at the Argentina Open enabled him to qualify for the 151st Open at Royal Liverpool. The competition will once again provide an opportunity to begin the major championship in July at Royal Troon.
