WATCH: ANTHONY KIM HANDED EXEMPTION TO PLAY IN REST OF 2024 LIV GOLF LEAGUE EVENTS

Former PGA Tour star Anthony Kim speaks for the first time since his move to the LIV Golf League.

Anthony Kim, a former PGA Tour star, has revealed that he is determined to demonstrate that he is capable of winning again.   This comes after LIV Golf officially announced that Kim will be given a special permission to participate in all upcoming LIV Golf League tournaments in 2024.

Earlier this week, CEO Greg Norman announced on Twitter that Kim, who is 38 years old, is the newest signee for LIV Golf. You can find his remarks here.

The golfer, who has won three PGA Tour titles and represented the US in the Ryder Cup, has not competed in a Tour event since 2012.

Kim will tee up in his first LIV Golf event starting in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, this Friday.

It is unknown as to how much Kim has been paid for his services to LIV Golf this season.

Kim will compete in all remaining 2024 LIV Golf regular season tournaments as one of two wildcard players aiming to accrue points in the league’s individual standings and earn a team place in 2025.

The American joins season-long wildcard player Hudson Swafford, competing against the LIV Golf League’s 13 four-player teams across the 14-event global schedule.

Kim said:

After stepping away from the game years ago due to injury, I’m happy to officially announce my return to the world of professional golf. It’s been a long time coming, and I’m very grateful for all the highs, lows and lessons learned from the first part of my career. I want to compete with the best players in the world, and I’m on a mission to prove to myself that I can win again. The next step on that journey starts now, and I’m excited to give everything I’ve got this season on the LIV Golf League.”

Kim then posted this video to his new Instagram account earlier today

When Kim was a junior, he had incredible talent. He participated in the 2008 Ryder Cup for the United States at Valhalla and won three times on the PGA Tour.

This involved dominating Paul Azinger’s team in the Sunday singles and crushing Sergio Garcia, the European record point scorer, 5&4.

However, he abruptly stopped playing and hasn’t participated in a professional golf tournament in 12 years.

Over the years, Kim has made a few brief appearances and her swing update videos have occasionally been shared on social media.

Kim has been called the most reclusive person in golf, its “Yeti,” a man of mystery, and one of the biggest “what-ifs.”

It was expected he was going to rise to superstardom just like Tiger Woods.

The widely assumed explanation is that Kim cashed in on an insurance policy worth $15-20m after struggling with injuries.

Had he continued his career on the PGA Tour that would have been voided. It has also been speculated he didn’t enjoy Tour life.

Kim said ahead of his LIV Golf debut this week: “I will tell my story when it’s the right time but right now I’m focused on golf.”

How will AK get on at LIV Golf this season? Are you happy to see him back?
