GREG NORMAN ISSUES DAMNING VERDICT AFTER ANTHONY KIM’S EXCUSE FOR TOPPING SHOT

Greg Norman comes down hard on Anthony Kim after hearing the LIV Golf pro’s excuse for topping a shot on the 18th hole.

Greg Norman has issued a damning response to Anthony Kim after learning what caused the new LIV Golf player to top his shot on the par-5 18th in the first round at LIV Golf Jeddah.

“Kim, aged 38, made his first competitive start in 12 years after signing a contract with LIV Golf for the current season.”

“The athlete, who has won the PGA Tour three times and previously represented the US in the Ryder Cup, has received a special permission to participate in all upcoming LIV Golf tournaments scheduled for 2024.”

Kim won’t be able to act as a team representative, however, he will participate as one of the individual wildcards weekly on LIV Golf.

The American player probably regretted not having any teammates to rely on during the first round of the LIV Golf Jeddah in Saudi Arabia on Friday, as things didn’t go as expected with a score of 76.

Kim started on the par-5 18th hole in the shotgun start and had a surprising beginning when he “topped his second shot to the right” as stated by his playing partner Graeme McDowell.

It was later confirmed by on-course commentator Dom Boulet that Kim had been put off by an “overhead drone” that was covering the action.

After learning what exactly distracted Kim on his approach shot to the par-5 18th, Norman told Boulet “he’s got to get used to it.”

Norman is indeed the CEO of LIV Golf.

Kim started the round smoothly by scoring four consecutive pars, but then faced a setback when he hit a dreaded shank on the fifth hole.    He deserves credit for sinking a 25-foot putt for a bogey.

Kim scored a birdie on the 6th hole, which is a par-4, but then made three consecutive bogeys starting from the 7th hole.

“He proceeded to make two additional bogeys on holes 12 and 15 during his round, resulting in a score of 6-over par 76.”

Kim is ranked last out of 54 people.    Although Kim had a slow start to his LIV Golf career, he was happy to focus on the positives from the round.

Kim said:

“Obviously disappointed with the score but I played so much better than the score. I’ve got a lot to build on. Made a lot of unforced errors. That’s unfortunate. But I feel like I’m not that far away.”

In the Pro-Am, Kim was overheard asking for a mulligan on his opening tee shot!

What did you make of Kim’s first round on LIV Golf?
