The Par 3 Contest, a tradition at the Masters since 1960, will be the focus on Wednesday at Augusta National Golf Club in Augusta, Georgia.
The competition takes place on a small golf course with only nine holes, a par of 27, and a total length of 1,090 yards.
It is a family event, as most of the players have their wives, girlfriends, sons, and daughters serving as their caddies during the game.
No golfer who has won the Par 3 Contest has ever gone on to win the Masters in the same week.
1958 saw the first competition taking place on a course created by George Cobb and Clifford Roberts, one of the club’s founders, as recollected by Sam Snead.

There have been 107 holes-in-one in the event’s history, including a record nine in 2016. There were five aces last year.
