Masters star Ludvig Aberg is dating British tennis sensation Olivia Peet after meeting at uni
Ludvig Aberg is one of the stars of the show at this year’s Masters, but the golf ace is also dating one of Britain’s most promising tennis stars
Golf star Ludvig Aberg is not the only athlete who is turning heads in his circle.
The Swede enjoyed an extremely impressive weekend’s work at Augusta National Golf Club. In his first ever Masters appearance, Aberg came into the final day across the pond in fourth position, with an impressive -4. The 24-year-old is mature beyond his years displays ensured he was still in the running to become the first debutant to win the Masters in 45 years.
But while many in the golfing world are touting him as a potential star on the green, there are similar murmurs with his girlfriend – British tennis ace Olivia Peet. While both are heading to the top of their respective sports, they actually met at university.
Aberg and Peet came across each other at Texas Tech university. Peet hails from Manchester, but moved across to the United States as one of 10 nationally ranked players in the country. In her senior year at Texas Tech, she closed out the 2022-23 season at an impressive ranking of 116 in singles.
She also recorded an incredible victory over No.43 star Ariana Arseneault in the Duel in the Desert tournament. Golf fans first spotted Peet and Aberg together at the 2023 Ryder Cup gala dinner. They were walking hand in hand on the Spanish Steps ahead of the iconic competition.
Peet is coached by her father, former professional tennis player Chris Peet. He was world ranked at singles and doubles, but was truly dominant in his local area of Lancashire, where he won around 17 regional titles.
He was initially asked about the potential success of Olivia and her sister Alexis when they were 10 and eight years old.
In a 2010 interview with the Bury Times, he mentioned that they were talented and he understood the effort required to achieve success.
“I reached a fairly high level in my sport – never ranking in the top 100 globally, but I did have some success.
I understand that it takes time to achieve great results. It’s hard to predict what the future holds in three or four years.” “We may need to re-evaluate our actions at some point in the future.
However, both of them are progressing well and we, as parents, will support them as much as we can.” It is likely that he did not anticipate his talented daughter getting involved with one of the top golfers in the world.
