Simone Biles brushes off criticism of her NFL wardrobe blunder as she heads out for lavish dinner in Chicago – and receives some VERY special treatment from the restaurant
The Olympics may be over but for Simone Biles the party is just beginning.
Biles, the Olympic all-around champion from the Paris Games, was spotted out in Chicago on Saturday afternoon enjoying herself while her husband – Jonathan Owens – played in a preseason game against the Cincinnati Bengals.
However, it was at that game where she also incurred the wrath of some angry fans for her attire after she committed a fashion – and football – faux pas.
But she brushed off any criticism and after the contest, she and a group of friends all went out for a lavish looking dinner at the restaurant Maple & Ash.
Awaiting Biles at the restaurant was a special menu that displayed the food available for purchase but included the words ‘OLYMPIC F*@KING CHAMPION!’
Biles and her assembled guests also raised their glasses for a toast by the candlelight.
It was a great day out for Biles, but she did attract some attention from Bears fans for one very big no-no in her wardrobe.
She wore a custom jacket with black-and-white printed images of Owens on it. But those pictures were all in the uniform he wore while he played for the Bears’ main rivals – the Green Bay Packers.
As she strolled the sidelines, Biles was also sporting a protective boot on her left foot from a calf injury she endured at the Olympics. She topped off the look with a pair of reflective silver shades, a black Prada bucket hat and a Balenciaga purse.
In her efforts to extend a heartfelt and supportive gesture towards Owens, Biles inadvertently found herself entangled in one of the league’s most intense rivalries, much to the disapproval of fans.
Owens spent the previous season with the Green Bay Packers before transitioning to the Chicago Bears earlier this year.
As his partner prepared for her pursuit of gold in Paris, the safety secured a two-year contract with the Bears, reportedly valued at $4.5 million, in March.
The gymnast expressed her excitement regarding her partner’s new opportunity, celebrating the contract through a series of tweets.
“CHICAGO HERE HE COMES,” she announced, before seemingly indicating that she does not intend to relocate permanently with him.
“I’m so thrilled about not needing a connecting flight to visit my husband hahahaha,” she added in a subsequent tweet.
Nevertheless, despite her initial enthusiasm, as she adorned herself with additional Olympic medals, it appears that Biles has not yet had the opportunity to refresh her game-day attire.
Owens seems to have acclimated well to his new NFL journey in Chicago, with the franchise even granting him five days off from preseason training to travel to Paris and support his wife during the Olympics.
