Brooks Koepka makes surprising announcement ahead of LIV Golf event.

Koepka is presently in Chicago in anticipation of the penultimate tournament of LIV Golf’s third season.
After concluding their 2024 season in Dallas later this month with the breakaway tour, Koepka will then journey to the renowned golf destination.
The Alfred Dunhill Links Championship will be played over 3-6 October at St Andrews, Carnoustie and Kingsbarns.
Koepka said: “I’ve been fortunate to play in several Dunhill Links, as well as two Open Championships at St Andrews over the years, and these trips are always highlights to my year.”
The 34-year-old said he ‘loves’ links golf.
“And St Andrews is my favourite course in the world,” he said. “I could play there every day for the rest of my life and never get tired of it.”
He said: “The atmosphere on and off the course at the Dunhill is fantastic.
“I was able to play with my father one year and my good friend and caddie, Ricky Elliott, another. Those two weeks will always be very special to me.”
Koepka heads into LIV Golf Chicago looking to win his third event of the season on the breakaway tour.
In August last year, he emerged victorious against Jon Rahm in a playoff to secure his fifth championship in total. Despite having a successful season with the LIV, Koepka has struggled in major tournaments. “He ended up tying for 26th place in both the PGA Championship and U.S. Open.” He ended up tied for 45th place at The Masters and placed 43rd at The Open. Brooks Koepka is set to participate in a golf match between the PGA Tour and LIV Golf.
Koepka recently announced that he will be teaming up with Bryson DeChambeau to face Rory McIlroy and Scottie Scheffler in a televised event. The event is planned to occur at a location that is still to be confirmed in Las Vegas in December.
The announcement was made while the PGA Tour and Saudi financiers of LIV are in talks about a potential merger. Over the next two days, PGA Tour officials will be having discussions with LIV representatives in New York. Discussing merging the male sports team has been ongoing for over a year.
“Tiger Woods and Adam Scott were said to be part of the discussions, but Sports Illustrated later refuted this claim by stating that the 15-time major champion was not present at the meeting.”
