Rory McIlroy will star in a new documentary that charts the ‘ups and downs’ of forming his TGL side Boston Common Golf.
The news was confirmed after a teaser trailer of the doc was released on X on 30 September.
It looks like the filmmaker decided to create five different episodes of the documentary and one of them will be dedicated to the formation of his TGL side.
No specific release date of the series has been declared yet but according to Sports Business Journal’s Josh Carpenter it is to be launched in mid December.
Boston Common Golf team consists of 2025 U.S. Ryder Cup captain Keegan Bradley and former Masters title winners Adam Scott and Hideki Matsuyama.
McIlroy intended to select England’s Tyrrell Hatton for his team, but he was shown the door after he signed for LIV Golf.
TGL was supposed to have Jon Rahm earlier, but he had to withdraw before he signed for the breakaway in December.
TGL will debut on ESPN next January.
Woods and McIlroy were the brains behind the idea.
In other words, TGL will leverage technology and a group of the PGA Tour’s best players.
Six TGL teams representing six different cities will go head-to-head in two-hour weekly competitions in a season-long race.

Hence, in the last two years we let in a crew from the documentary to accompany me and the entire team as we started from scratch to build a brand new TGL team for the exceedingly enthusiastic sports enthusiasts of Boston.
‘This is the highs and the lows and then high once more of that particular journey.’
