The PGA Tour has officially announced that teenage sensation Blades Brown has earned Special Temporary Membership following an impressive performance at the 2026 CJ Cup Byron Nelson in Texas. The 19-year-old secured the status after finishing tied for 14th at TPC Craig Ranch, continuing what has quickly become one of the most exciting breakout stories of the PGA Tour season.
Brown fired rounds of 66, 68, 65 and 67 to finish the tournament at 18-under par, holding his own against some of the biggest names in golf. His strong week came just days after celebrating his 19th birthday and marked his fourth top-25 finish on the PGA Tour this season in only 15 starts as a professional.
By earning Special Temporary Membership, Brown now receives unlimited sponsor exemptions for the remainder of the PGA Tour season, giving him significantly more opportunities to compete against the world’s best players. The achievement represents another major step in the young American’s rapid rise through professional golf.
Brown has been viewed as one of golf’s brightest young prospects ever since breaking Bobby Jones’ long-standing record as the youngest medalist in U.S. Amateur stroke-play history. Instead of taking the college route, he turned professional early and has already shown flashes of elite-level talent on both the Korn Ferry Tour and PGA Tour.
Speaking after the tournament, Brown described securing the status as a “pretty cool feeling” while acknowledging that important decisions still lie ahead regarding his playing schedule for the rest of the season. With momentum building quickly and confidence continuing to grow, many around the game now believe it may only be a matter of time before Brown becomes a full-time PGA Tour member.
